New DASK insurance rules

Since the beginning of 2024, there have been some changes to the compulsory earthquake insurance DASK.

Thanks to the new regulation, the risks covered by DASK doubled, and inflation protection was added to compulsory earthquake insurance.

  • In this context, the cost per square meter, based on the calculation of the cost of insurance, will be increased from 3,016 TL to 6,000 TL (Turkish TL) for reinforced concrete buildings.

  • In other buildings it increased from 2,080 TL to 4,000 TL.

  • The maximum guarantee amount that DASK will provide for a house has been increased from 640,000 TL to 1,272,000 TL.

Accordingly, as of the beginning of 2024, the guarantee that DASK will provide for a house with an area of 100 square meters will be 600,000 TL.

The amount of guarantee provided by DASK for a house with an area of 200 square meters is 1,200,000 TL.

DASK has not increased insurance premiums in the new year, but premiums paid will increase in parallel with the increase in insurance coverage.

Namely:

Although the guarantee for a 100 square meter house until the end of 2023 was TL 301,000 and the premium paid was 700 TL, the premium payable will be approximately 1,400 TL since the guarantee amount for a 100 square meter house has increased to 640,000 TL as of beginning of 2024.

In other words, since the coverage has doubled, the premium paid will also increase at the same rate, but there will be no additional price increases from the new year.

❗️If you took out compulsory earthquake insurance in 2023 and your policy has not yet expired, you must issue an additional agreement to receive the increased amount of coverage in early 2024, otherwise the coverage will not increase.

There is no need to draw up an additional agreement for insurance concluded from 2024 - inflation protection is now included in compulsory earthquake insurance.

You can conclude an insurance contract and pay DASK in the mobile banking application of any of the state-owned Turkish banks.
