Real estate sales statistics in Turkiye in February 2024

Housing sales across Turkey increased by 17.3% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 93 thousand 902. Istanbul had the highest share in housing sales with 16 thousand 344 house sales and 17.4%. According to sales numbers, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 8 thousand 300 house sales and 8.8% share, and Izmir with 5 thousand 168 house sales and 5.5% share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Ardahan with 18 houses, Tunceli with 45 houses and Bayburt with 51 houses.

 

Housing sales decreased by 2.0% in the January-February period compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 174 thousand 210.



Mortgaged house sales across Turkey decreased by 49.1% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 8 thousand 827. The share of mortgage sales in total housing sales was 9.4%. Mortgaged house sales in the January-February period decreased by 56.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 14 thousand 742.


2,060 of the mortgaged sales in February and 3,464 of the mortgaged sales in the January-February period were first-hand sales.


Other housing sales across Turkey increased by 35.7% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 85 thousand 75. The share of other sales in total housing sales was 90.6%. Other housing sales in the January-February period increased by 10.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 159 thousand 468.



The number of first-hand house sales across Turkey increased by 21.8% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 28 thousand 594. The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 30.5%. First-hand house sales amounted to 53 thousand 857 in the January-February period, with an increase of 5.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.


Second-hand house sales across Turkey increased by 15.5% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 65 thousand 308. The share of second-hand house sales in total house sales was 69.5%. Second-hand house sales decreased by 5.0% in the January-February period compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 120 thousand 353.



Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 44.9% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 1,846. In February, the share of housing sales to foreigners in total housing sales was 2.0%. Istanbul ranked first in housing sales to foreigners with 691 housing sales. Istanbul was followed by Antalya with 659 house sales and Mersin with 151 house sales.


Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 48.0% in the January-February period compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 3 thousand 907.
